Hey all. Thank you for a great season at Aberdeen. We had a lot of new faces this year, and we hope to see you again when spring rolls around. For those of you that can't get enough, I'll be giving you a head's up for other dodgeball leagues that are around in the winter months.

Western Springs Dodgball Night
Interested in playing dodgeball on a court without dealing with the cold these days? As Aberdeen's season draw's to a close, there are still quite a few of us still desiring to play dodgeball over the winter. There is an indoor court southwest of the city that hosts dodgeball every Friday night from 8 pm - 10:30 pm. This is the Western Springs Rec Center, located at 1500 Walker Street, Western Springs, 60558. This is about a half hour drive from Aberdeen so I recommend carpooling if you can make it. The cost to play each night is $3.00 but it's worth it.
This is a foam-ball based court and I know there are people opposed to this for various reasons, but there are a lot of advantages as well. Since there are several of us who enjoy pinching, these balls can be squeezed and allow for more varied throws. The balls also provide a safer environment to play on and can help serious players reach their potential.
This Friday, we're hoping to have a good turnout, and hopefully have more come over the winter months. We may even try to bring Aberdeen's rubber balls to Western Springs if we have a good turnout for those of us who would rather play with rubber balls but nonetheless, you're still bound to have fun if it's dodgeball :). So I leave you guys with an old video of what the court and gameplay looks like and I hope to see you there tomorrow night!

Finally!
Holy cow. What a long and treacherous season for the Worst. Team. Ever. The Aberdeeners that played this season can tell you that it went on much longer than it needed to since half the season was delayed by rain. Even the championship was delayed due to the mist. So the team played the championship on Saturday morning against long time rivals, Joe Perillo's Lethal Mushache Coalition. It was over in 2 games, in 4 minutes total. It was the quickest we had ever played. (I'm going to go ahead and give myself a pat on the back for making the final play.) Maybe it was the early morning adrenaline. Maybe the other team was too hungover, and had to play after spending the night in the back of their BMWs. We'll never know, but what we do know is that is finally over. We can retire from this league victorious.

TONIGHT.
To all ninjas:
Dodgeball is cancelled for tonight due to various reasons. Some of us are out of town, most of us are fighting an epic battle in another league and well, we have been deprived of our equipment. We will return on Tuesday with brand new dodgeballs (maybe even a new party ball!) and the whole crew. But if you can make it, join some of the Aberdeeners at North Ave. Beach to watch the Worst. Team. Ever. play in the NAB Sports Dodgeball Championship. We start at 6:15. Come on down.
