killer ball?

It may be old news, but it was just brought to my attention that dodgeball has become a growing concern in grade schools across the country. The sport has been banned from schools in Virginia, Florida and Massachusetts. Parents in these states think that sports that involve "human targets" encourage violent behavior and also cause emotional damage. The New York Times writes that a professor from Eastern Connecticut State University has gone as far as to place dodgeball on the Physical Education Hall of Shame, which also includes duck-duck-goose.

Do you think dodgeball should be banned from schools? Are these children really learning violent behavior from the playground sport? Would the same child who played dodgeball at school be the same child to pick up a weapon? Maybe they should just ban things like high fives too. Oh wait ... maybe they already did. Maybe these schools should learn to play the game the way ninjas do. At Aberdeen, you are never picked last. The hug rule is strictly enforced. And if you can't abide by the rules, you get a time out.

Read more about the ban from the New York Times and USA Today.
