Interested in playing dodgeball on a court without dealing with the cold these days? As Aberdeen's season draw's to a close, there are still quite a few of us still desiring to play dodgeball over the winter. There is an indoor court southwest of the city that hosts dodgeball every Friday night from 8 pm - 10:30 pm. This is the Western Springs Rec Center, located at 1500 Walker Street, Western Springs, 60558. This is about a half hour drive from Aberdeen so I recommend carpooling if you can make it. The cost to play each night is $3.00 but it's worth it.
This is a foam-ball based court and I know there are people opposed to this for various reasons, but there are a lot of advantages as well. Since there are several of us who enjoy pinching, these balls can be squeezed and allow for more varied throws. The balls also provide a safer environment to play on and can help serious players reach their potential.
This Friday, we're hoping to have a good turnout, and hopefully have more come over the winter months. We may even try to bring Aberdeen's rubber balls to Western Springs if we have a good turnout for those of us who would rather play with rubber balls but nonetheless, you're still bound to have fun if it's dodgeball :). Yeah, that was my video from about 7 years ago. The credits were most of the OGs.
